Hi Everyone,
I thought I'd post a small update on what's going on here. I've had a few leads on jobs and now just waiting for the responses. It has gotten cold here, I hope it doesn't last too long. :)
Still not making many cards but am working on a scrapbook that I made by converting a child's hard book into an album. Quite fun. I'll post some pictures soon.

Has it really been seven months since I last posted? Ahh live has a way of changing all the time, doesn't? I don't have a new card to post. I hardly make them anymore, not because I don't want to but because I don't have the resources yet.
Let me bring you up to date on what's going on here...
My sister moved in with me in August,(that is a challenge in itself) neither of us have found a full time job. One of us will get a day here or there with a temp service but really not enough to live on. I am sitting at the local convenience store typing this up now, using the free wifi. I soooo miss my cable and internet at home.
I just got over a case of "cat scratch fever"...yes it really is an illness. I suffered for a week before I broke down and went to the doc. I was put on antibiotics and am now feeling better, not 100% good, but better. UGH, another bill to worry about.
My middle child had a baby (well his wife did) this November, so now I'm a grandma of two sweet looking girls. They both live up North, so I haven't met them yet. Sad...:( Now I understand my oldest son's wife is prego with their second, due in April. A Boy! Yay!!!
My daughter and her husband still live in Alaska and loving it. They have really settled down to the "harsh" life up there. :) She's making her own parka and working full time as well as going to school via internet! You go girl! :)
Well, I will try to post more often then seven months. Hope ya'll are doing well and prosper in the New Year.
OH yeah...I turn 50 in January.....FIFTY...can ya believe it!? LOL

IASC blog hop for OWH

It's our first blog hop here at In A Scrap Creations. We are very excited about it because it's not just for our regular release but we're also doing a OWH preview. OWH stands for Operation Write Home . The design team has created cards for the troops to use to send back to their families when they are deployed. These will be sent to OWH to be distributed to the troops abroad.

There are specific guidelines you need to follow if you want to join us in making cards for the troops. You will find them here .

We'd love it if you created our own card and/or cards to ship to OWH. If you do, please post it on your blog and link it in the comment section of the post on the IASC blog .

Also, we are doing our IASC release. This month is "Silly Owls"...the set is $3 and you get 6 images (that's only 50 cents each)...these are pre-coloured and ready to use for your quick card needs. You will find them listed here .

Dude Time freebie

Hey dudes and dudettes, it's time for another freebie from the Dude Time Doodle challenge blog. I was going to use a different sentiment, but I'm trying to get more "Dad" cards finished for OWH, so it simply says Dad. My Dad was a janitor after he retired from the Army...so this is in his honor. Love ya Dad...

I put a bit of glossy accent on the "water puddle" his is moping up! His pants were an accident...I was going to make them gray but my marker dried up on me...so the grayish blue! I like them. :)

D2D weekly challenge

Faith at Designed to Delight has another great image to play with...if you didn't play last week go to her store and buy this image, next weeks will be free to you when you submit your image in their weekly challenge. This week it is a cool Pail of Flowers... I used the white ping image. You have to try this if you haven't. The background paper is Gina K digital papers.

I cut tiny little slits on each side of the pail to add the ribbon. Hope you like it.

Okay, did you get some awesome sentiments? Here is my card. I used BDD "Gary the gift giver" for my image, the sentiment on the outside is mine, but I did add a Raindrop Echo one on the inside. Poor Gary, he forgot his lady's Birthday...Hope he gets out of trouble with the lovely flowers and jewelry gift he bought. :)

A Tisket, A Tasket

Have you gotten your image from Hambo for this weeks challenge? Did you play last week? If not you can buy this weeks image from the Hambo store and play to get your free image next week. This week it is a cute basket just plum full of hearts. A nice sentiment is included with the image. The requirements...use both image and sentiment, add some lace and flowers.
Here is my card;

For the lace I used a paper doily that I distressed with Tim Holtz tea dye distress ink. I also used this on all the dp and card stock papers used. My flower is one from my stash I bought at Hobby Lobby. Oops, can you see the drip on the top heart. I forgot I had added more glossy accent. Oh well, it'll look great after it dries. Some hearts have the glossy accent, some stickles.

Happy Monday Challenge has a new challenge-Fellowship. The challenge is to make a card for an elderly person you know. They, like us all, need to have people checking in on them. So my card is a HI card, using a Deedee image. The sentiment I made from Microsoft Word. I colored the flowers with Copics and the buterfly with Sharpies and Bic markers. Stop your elderly neighbor and just say HI!

It was a good card day yesterday. Here is a group picture, then I'll break it down per challenge. First I forgot to include a pinwheel card I made...:( It is pretty to!

The bottom two and the pink/black one on the right are not for challenges. Well, the brown one could be OWH mid week monochromatic challenges as well as the Sunday's sketch challenge. OK two of them aren't challenge related. I CASEd Dixie on the upper right one.
First challenge...KING Hambo! I didn't have a cuttlebug embossing folder I wanted to use, so I scored the yellow paper on my Martha Stewart scor board in a diamond design. The purple heart button is a glitter button that I sealed with Glossy Accents. Got that tip from Yolanda's blog. Thanks Yolanda!!

The next challenge is for D2D- Bullfrogs and Butterflies. When I first saw this, I thought blue and yellow for the flowers. Why? I don't know, it kinda looks "Dutch" to me, now that it's done. But I like it. I added the corner flowers also included in the set, FREE, if you played in the progressive challenge last week. Mr Bull has googley eyes, the two big flowers have bling in the middle, the corner flowers have glossy accent and I added a blue butterfly button.

Here's hoping we all don't float away in the mid west area.

Hambo Ogre and D2D ladybugs

Good Monday Morning to all my peeps! I know, if you work outside of the home, what's good about a Monday morning? :-) I have an appointment with a temp service this morning to finish my paperwork and interview with them. SO I'm hoping by next week I will be a "complainer" of Monday mornings! Say a prayer for me that they find me a job ASAP! I NEED one like yesterday.
Okay enough about me...here are my two cards for today;
Hambo has an adorable Ogre for their challenge this week. We were to distress the paper. I really didn't use any paper per say on my card. But I distressed the edges of the card and the sentiment. I think I should have used paper....

The flower stamps were from a package I won...I'm sorry I forgot from whom I won them!
He's colored with Bic markers. And the sentiment came with the Ogre.

My next challenge with with D2D for this weeks progressive challenge. Faith included a white png image that you can layer over digital paper. Well I like to try new things so I used that and layered over some digital paper I had but had never used. WOW...fun, fun. I can see this would be great to do with the right paper. I colored, again, with my Bic's. I added a white gel pen to the flower petals. And some stitching around the image and the background paper. Enjoy both cards.

Remember roller skating?

I do...well I remember falling on my behind more than I made it around the rink! Ahh the good times. IASC has two new images out today and I have made some cards playing with those awesome images...here they are.

She is colored with bic markers for the most part. I used a star vellum paper over a very light yellow to bring out the stars on the image. I'm not thrilled with the way I did these stars, though. I need to learn the motto-less is more!

The second image is just a fun to play with.

I love how this card turned out. I copied the sketch from another blogger named Jan. I love her cards. You will too if you check out her blog.
I had to research how skates were/are colored...hmm I just aged myself, didn't I? LOL Anyway I love tan and turquoise together. I hope you enjoy it also.

3 new challenges

I have three challenges for you today, all so different and all so much fun to do.
Lets start with MelJen...the challenge #54 is to use 3 colors (check), 2 different dp (check) and a ribbon (check). I just love this little image. I sparkled him up a bit with some stickles and glossy accent on his heart.

The next challenge is for Scrap-Creations:Going Grey. They have a sketch to follow. Pretty neat sketch, I'm sure I will be using it a lot.

And lastly Dude Time Doodles has another freebie (Jethro Jug) and challenge. What a hoot is this image. If you haven't grabbed it yet, ya better before it's gone. I did a google search for "hillbilly" sayings. Fun! hmm I might be a hillbilly! :)

Dude Time April Sketch challenge

I choose Rough Night Rodney for my image, also a BDD image.

April Showers

Fantabulous Cricut has a new challenge-April Showers, use an umbrella or a hat in your project. Well I only have nine Cricut cartridges and out of all of them only one had an umbrella. Several had peeps with hats...but I wanted an umbrella! So I used the Cricut lite Jolly Holiday cartridge. Some cute images on there. The cloud on my card is from Microsoft word, inserting a shape. The puddle is free hand drawn. I was going to pop the cloud but forgot cause I got xyron "happy"..oops. I'm not super happy with the rain drops but I guess I leave them.

Busy busy

Okay everyone you'll have to bare with me on this long post. I haven't had any card mojo in days and days. But this morning, BAM, it hit big time. So I'm going to post all in one! Deep Breath!!! Here we go....
First just a cute picture of my neighbors dog, "Baby Girl"...she was my inspiration for my Bugaboo card..

Is she not the cutest thing you have ever seen? She is eating my cats food and growled a ferocious growl for such a tiny little girl when I went to pick her up! LOL I have told my neighbors if they ever give her up, she's is to come here!!

And now for the card in her honor;

This will be entered in their Catch the Bug Challenge. It's a Z fold card. I just love those cards. I did make a separate blank 4.25x5.5 for the recipient to write a message on.
Love this image...I have several colored and ready to be put together.

Now to switch gears for this card. It is for the D2D progressive challenge. This weeks image is Garden Party. How fun is this image. I love flowers, as I think I said last time I blogged!

I just had to bling up the flowers. At first I had only 3 with rhinestones in the centers. Then I thought the bottom left corner needed something, so out came the buttons....well one thing led to another and all the flowers are blinged out! OH how I can NOT stop once I start! I had just a hint of stickles to the bee wings. Thanks Faith for another beautiful image.

And lastly, I promise!

This is a free image over at IASC, it comes in a colored version or black and white version. Very cute image. Thanks Amanda! I'm quite happy with my bunny. Usually when I color (or don't color) something white, I try to over compensate....this time it turned out just as I wished.

OH no, I lied. So Sorry...I forgot my Hambo card I made. I must post it also. :)

This weeks challenge was to make an easel card. I also love easel cards. I made this for my daughter and son n law...they are in Alaska and how appropriate that I should get a Penguin Bunny image to play with for Easter. You never know, perhaps way up there in the snow (they just got an additional 7") the easter bunny may look like this! LOL

Two new challenges

Hi everyone,
Sorry I have been MIA lately. Some of you may know this, others not. My Dad was in the late stages of cancer and I have been spending as much time as I could with him. So no card making or blogging. Sadly he lost his battle last Thursday. He will be missed terribly by many people. Yesterday I squeezed in some time to make two cards.
The first is for Hambo. I didn't play last week so I didn't get that awesome caterpillar image so I'm using another of their's. Still awesome. The challenge is to use Bright Green and Pink. I think those are cool color combination, so I had a lot of fun with this challenge.

The second is for D2D progressive challenge, Spotty Dotty Watering can. I love this image. I think I'm drawn to flowers, I just love coloring and creating with them. The sentiment is also a D2D one. If you haven't ever played in one of D2D challenges, I say go for it, NOW! Lots of cute images and you get a freebie each week you participate. Here is my card for this week;

D2D weekly challenge

Oh boy do we have a cute image this week to create with at D2D. If you normally don't participate in their weekly challenge you can go buy this image, submit it in their challenge and be qualified to get a free image for next weeks challenge. I highly recommend that you do this, as all Faiths images are too darn cute to not want!
Here is what I came up with for the challenge

I added a couple more ladybugs in the jar, colored with my Bics and Primascolor markers. I cut out a piece of vellum the size of the jar and added it over the image. I'm hoping it gives it a "real" jar affect. I added a gingham bow and a ladybug button.
The sentiments that came with the image were for "get well" but I think of this a summer fun!

Hambo Hoedown Challenge, Sparkle

This week the challenge at Hambo is all about the bling. My kind of challenge. We had a very cute party elephant to play with also. Lots of fun and a perfect card for me to make at this time. I'm trying to get a few birthday cards made to give to the VA assisted living home where my Dad is at. I haven't had much time to "play" with spending time there with him and now looking for a job and new place to live! That's a long story better told elsewhere!
Anywho, here is my card for this weeks challenge.

I think he ate too much cake and that caused him to be a little green! I added some googley eyes and paper pieced his ears. Thanks for a great image and challenge. Looking forward to next weeks.

Good, exciting news! I am now a design team member for IASC, In A Scrap Creations! YAY me! I was/am so excited about this new chapter. I can not wait to see what all beautiful digital images I get to create with!
The first two images I was given were pre-colored. Very cute images and I loved the soft colors I got to chose from. You will love them to.
The first one I call Coffee Friends...my niece and I fit this to a tee!

How cute are they? I just happened to have the perfect papers for the image. The stripped is from a Colorbok package and the border is from DCWV. The punch is a Paper Studio border punch and the little bit of bling is Studio112 pre-punched flowers.
The second card is sooooo very cute. I call it Little One;

Same paper sources as the first card. I added some ribbon and a flower from my stash. The Angel charm is one I have had for years. I used to make jewelry till my cats got in my way. See I need my own craft room, with a door! ;) I love them though.
So I hope you will go peek at the IAS store and grab a couple cute images for yourself.

OWH sketch #60

This is the new sketch over at OWH. I have to admit I have a hard time doing this type of sketch. But, having said that, I think my card turned out pretty good. :) I first copied my image (which I got here) into Word, then I formatted it to 3x3. Printed the image and colored with Copics and Bic markers. I then cut it into 1" squares and adhered that to a 3.5x3.5 square. Ta da...that helped me tremendously. The sentiment is printed on my pc in Word.

Cabin

Go green at Scrap-Creations, it doesn't have to be a "green" project (as in recycled). It can be or you could just use green in your image. Well, I used green. I have a treat for you....so I think!
I left the card pretty simple, not bling at all. Which if you know me, that's hard to do. See what ya think;

Okay, I know I'm bias but I LOVE this card and the image in particular. The image had a plain roof, it really looked like it should have snow, but since we are finished with snow (I hope) I added "shingles". Oops, I did add a touch of bling. The windows have stickles on them to give it a glowing affect. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.

At Happy Monday Challenge blog there is a new challenge...well it is about to end, today. I got there just in time! The challenge is Pretty Pastels. If you use a Deedee image they will send you a cute ducky holding some flowers. Cool image. I happen to have several Deedee images, so here is what I came up with.

Sorry for the shadow. I'm not sure I like all the extra stuff on the front. However it is stuck! I made another Z card. I love that fold. Here is a shot of the inside.

The Home Tweet Home is my doing in Word. I will fix up a blank 4.25x5.5 card as this will more than likely go to OWH. That way our Hero, who chooses this card, can write home a personal note.

Two different challenges

I have two different challenges for you today. The first is for the man/boy in your life. It is a Dude Time Doodle challenge, using their freebie. Freaky cool image. Cricut challenge

Okay, I know, enough already.... :) I promise this is my last post today. After all Idol is almost on!
I have had a Cricut for over a year now. But it seems to take on the backseat a lot now. I'm trying to incorporate it more in my cards. So I found this awesome blog, and a great challenge-use Trees!
Be kind...I need more practice! It is very hard for me to get the scale right!

I meant to use my cuttlebug and emboss the tree to give it some dimension but forgot! ha...next time I might remember! I had to put a kitty in as I'm a feline "sucker". Everything is from either My Community or Walk in My Garden cartridges, except the sky paper.

Happy Birthday, 2 cards, 3 challenges

Whew it's been busy here today...LOVE it.
I have two Birthday cards and three challenges to enter them in. The first card is a Bugaboo image and computer generated sentiment. I have to tell you, I love Bugaboo images and this was so fun to color I did two.

This was colored with my Bic markers. Perfect young man card, I think. I'm entering this in Bugaboo, Catch the Bug challange-Anything goes. And in OWH mid week challenge-use dots. I have to tell you, I just learned how to do the "special sentiment" from this great site, here. KUDOS...I will be practicing this a LOT!

My next card is Hambo's latest image and challenge. Yup, I read the directions several times...USE lots of Gold. Okay, I did! My brothers g/f's b'day is on the 17th so this card is for her.

Is he not the cutest? I usually don't make St. Pat's day cards. NOT a big fan of green...but this was perfect for Shannon's b'day. I added gold to the hat band and on the gold with my Gold leaf pen, then to make it shine, I added stickles to the pot of gold.

I have a very cute boy's Birthday card to show you. The image is Dustin Pikes and I can just see any young man and some, not so young men, playing with their new toy. Thanks Dustin.

The sketch and challenge I'm entering it in is from Guylou. At first I thought, "woo, lots of cutting there", for the sketch. Then after looking at it, I decided it is an awesome sketch. I used only papers in my stash. What a great way to use up bits and pieces.

This week it is Mother's day cards. Hurry, just one day left at OWH for the mid week throwdown challenge.

Because I used a Z fold card I will include a blank 4.25x5.5 card base for the recipient to write their message on. The image is a free one I got at freedigitalstamps.blogspot.com. I had to add some stickles to the flowers and the corner flowers on the blank card base, seeing as it is my new obsession.

D2D dt call

Faith is looking for design team member(s). I love, love, love her images so I decided to apply. You can go here to see the details of what she is looking for in a design team member. I wish her luck in finding the perfect person/people to complete her team. I wish you luck if you go for it...but I want to be on her team! LOL

This is the image I choose, "Hoot" the owl. I paper pieced his wings and belly. I wanted it to have the "Americana" feel. Then I colored the background blue. But, wait a minute...Owls aren't out in daylight, so I had to find a way to tone down the blue. I think you'll see it turned out pretty good. I just went over the blue with my Prismacolor marker, Brick white.

I had some red gingham ribbon to add and a blue star. This card will be sent to OWH for our troops.

This week using Lucky Bird from D2D free image from the progressive challenge. Thanks Faith for another wonderful image to create with. If you don't already participate in the weekly challenge at D2D you can buy this image from her store.

I just love the stitched look on a lot of Faiths images. So I carried that onto the card base as well as around the image. Such bright colors make me want summer to be here now. Wish I lived somewhere it was year round...hmm HI? Oh well back to reality, SO. IL is overcast today, chilly and expecting more rain the next couple days. ugh I want 80 degree weather!

These cards are going to be sent to OWH, the images was donated to OWH for OWH cards only. That's cool, 90% of my cards are made with OWH in mind anyhow. I love these images. A HUGE thanks to the Artist, Fran S. What a very talented lady she is and generous to boot! :)

I added the cake image from clip art in Word. The scalloped circle behind it is from my Cricut Wild Card cartridge. I had to have "grandma" have painted nails and 'diamond' earrings! Sweet!

Don't ya just love this fish! va va voom is what "she" seems to be saying! okay maybe just to me!

This house is NOT crooked, just my camera angle! :)

I kinda like the bunny green! It looks like a kids bunny! I didn't like the placement of the scroll after I put it, but dang it was adhered well! So there it stays.

Lesson for me...read the fine print twice, maybe three times. I didn't see that I was supposed to use strips and the sentiment as is for this Hambo challenge...oops. I'm lucky that I was made aware of my boo boo so I had time to correct it and resubmit for the next challenge image. Thanks! So luckily I like the image so much that I had already colored several of them. I just popped this on the correct background and viola! Not my best card, but I'm distracted today, thinking and worrying over my Dad.

Hambo Hoedown Challenge, Bird Hero

This weeks challenge is a sketch and using a cute digi image. You can tweak the sketch somewhat, which is what I did. I had some stickles to the image and the flowers, one little pink google eye and springy colors for the d/p used. I smeared the original sentiment so had to add the "green" on top of the orange. Note: let dry completely first! I stamped over a marker soaked paper, so it took 4EVER to dry and I'm not too patient!

D2D challenges

I have two D2D challenges I worked on this week.
First is one that started today-CASE a DT from D2D, at the card idea blogspot. However you have to change two or more things. "Just one DT?" I didn't know how I was going to choose just one to CASE...but I did. I love Debbie Fisher's talent. She is the DT that I copied. Her original card I CASE'd is here, called Teddy with a Hat. If you click on her name in the tag you will be taken to her personal blog. I highly recommend you go see her beautiful work, if you aren't already a fan.

The image I choose was Spring Kaela. I just love all the Kaela images and this one is so fun to use.
The difference I made in my card from Debbie's are;
1. I used a different color palette
2. I added some bling
3. I used a different image

The second challenge is D2D weekly/progressive challenge. We got a beautiful daffodil image to play with this week. I used it along with Faith's bunny, Happy Rabbit. I hope this is Faith's bunny. I have it listed in my folder as hers, but couldn't find it in her shop.

I love Easel cards and have been searching for a "framed easel card" tutorial I saw but didn't book mark. This isn't it! But cute nevertheless. I was going to leave the cute bunny white, but I just can't get that done correctly. I added stickles to the flowers (my new fav thing) and some glossy accent to the tiny flowers added to the flower pots!

Meljen's challenge 47

ATC...when I first saw this "ATC" on another challenge, I'm like "what in the world is an ATC?" But I quickly learned ATC stands for Artist Trading Card. Let me tell you they are sooooo cute and fun to make. I just love "miniature" anything! Meljen's new challenges is just that, make a (or in my case, several) ATC. First I love Meljen images and now I l*o*v*e* LOVE making ATC. Thanks Mel...for my new addiction! Can a person have too many ATC's?...hmmm I don't think so. So enough rambling, here is three of my new ATC;

And a back view...I really wasn't sure if this was correct for an ATC, but it made sense to me to put my info on the card. An ATC is like a business card, right?

OWH mid week challenge

It's that time again! Time for the OWH mid week challenge, and this week it is Any Occasion Challenge. Mine is just a fun "hi" card. I think some young man will like to get this from his parent or even an Uncle/Aunt who is far from home serving our country.

I was a bit hesitant about posting this card with all the upset we have had with the pirates lately. Hopefully it will be an okay card to send to our troops to use. I added some stickles to the water drops for a bit of pop. My first "stickle" experience....I love how I am learning new things all the time! The sentiment is printed on my pc...is 'matey' correct in the spelling? hmmm let me know what you think, I can still change it if need be.

D2D card idea challenge

Shape it Up Christmas/Winter, is what the challenge is called. NO square or rectangular cards. hmm well, I did a pocket card and it is rectangular, so I hope it will qualify. It was a lot of fun to make. I will probably make more of these. I used all D2D images for the card.

He is colored with Copics, Primsacolor and a few Bics. Equal opportunity in this craft room! The snowman is called "For the Birds" and the two red birds are called "Simple Valentine Bird". You can go to D2D's store to get both images. Here is a shot of the inside card by the pocket holder.

D2D weekly challenge

It's week 3 of February for the D2D challenge. Have you been following and getting your freebie's? If not, you might want to start now. Each week you participate you get a new freebie for the next weeks challenge!
I did two cards for this challenge. The image just screamed "country quilt" to me. My first attempt was good but not great. See...

Everything is paper pieced except the little bird. He is colored with copics and then glossy accents.
Second try...

Oops, I forgot I wanted to print on dp for the sky and I deleted my document. So it is colored with a bic and then over with a Primsacolor markers. The tree and field is paper pieced I added another D2D image, the tiny bird house. It is actually hooked around one of the tree branches with some jewelry wire, then popped out with foam dot. Again the bird and the bird house are marker colored and the birds are finished with glossy accent.

This is the current sketch challenge at OWH. I did two versions for my submission, one for the girls and the other for the boys.

This was supposed to say "Oops, I forgot", like I forgot your birthday, etc. But I just couldn't get the sentiment to work out. So, surprise! hehe
The image is from Elizabeth Dulemba and if you haven't looked at her blog, please do so. She is very talented and very generous with her images. I just love how the dp worked with my coloring. NO I didn't do that on purpose, but it all worked out! :)

And now for the boys version. I don't like how the sentiment "landed" on the card (what? I didn't do that! LOL) but it is stuck good so it stays! Sorry I forgot who the artist is for this image. If you know, please let me know so I can give due credit.

Meljen's challenge 46

Meljen's new challenge is to make a Birthday card. I made mine with her Holiday Bird image and her "it's a party" sentiment. I used red, white, and blue for the colors. It just evolved that way, once I decided on my bird color. I knew I wanted the star in the birds mouth to be different from typical yellow (typical for me). SO this is a birthday party, but it also can be used as a 4th of July card! It can also be consider a masculine card as there really isn't too much embellishments on it.

Hambo Pelican....what an interesting image. At first I didn't quite know how I was going to color/play with this image. However after reading what the Hambo challenge was all about, it all came together! :) Don't ya love it when that happens. Have you started participating in their weekly challenges? I apologize for the poor photo on this card, it's early here and not light enough outside for a good shot. I bought the sand background paper just for this card. The white, beach paper I already had. I saw the sentiment on a store greeting card so I CASE'd that!

This will also be entered in the OWH mid week throwdown-masculine card and in Dudetimedoodle challenge, masculine with certain colors. hmm I have most here.

Two D2D images

Today, I have two images from Faith at D2D. The first image is Kaela and her bouquet, called Kaela's Spring Bouquet. If you follow D2D weekly progressive challenge then you got the bouquet for free and an option to buy Kaela for $1...what a wonderful deal. I love blue and yellow together, so Kaela's dress is just that. See if you like;

The second image is Love you Sew Much. Pink and green, yummy together. I used a Copic for the swirls (with a template)...don't do that, it bleeds through and I should have known that...but I think I fixed it pretty good by going over it with a Zig in a darker green. The edges look a bit sharper. Lesson learned! :) And isn't that just what be creative is all about, learning what you like and don't and how to get it!?

Hambo Eye monster challenge and others

Hambo Hoedown Challenge

GO PACK GO! Okay, I feel better getting that out before I show you my card I made for this weeks challenge at Hambo Hoedown. I had fun making this card. I had to give equal time to both teams, so they are both on my card! Though I know the Pack is going to stomp those Steelers! UH Oh, I digress! I copied the image, given as a freebie this week at Hambo, into Paint and then colored two different images. I used my crimper to make the "grass" seem to be real. Added a 50 yard line and then added the images. CAS card...but cute, I hope.

Snowmen and Cardinals

Don't you just love looking at Cardinals in the snow? I know I do. And to make that even better, how about a snowman with Cardinals? Well, as long as I don't have to get out in the snow. We are, as is most of the country, supposed to get slammed with a big winter storm so this image from D2D was perfect to work with today. I am using the sketch from OWH, this weeks sketch challenge.

Another card for this challenge at D2D, I got the image from CDAC (on the front of the card). The stamp inside is from Stampabilities. I used some Glossy accents on the bee, and the butterfly.

It's a Z fold card. Very much a Spring card.

An open view of the card. I'm including a blank cardstock backed by the purple card stock and has corners made from the flower paper. I'll use the card for OWH servicemen/women.

MelJen Challenge 43

Use a heart...I can do that. I'm done with Valentine, but a card can always use a heart. I choose two images of Melissa's to use on the card. Then picked the dp I wanted to use. Once I had the images colored using colors from the dp I realized it would be too much of a good thing. hmm, so I have another dp as the main background paper and then just a strip of the original dp running down the middle. It had to be a rather wide strip to show all the colors on it. Hope ya like it. No sentiment so the user (OWH) can use card as they please.

Wow, I usually have this challenged done before now. Good thing I checked to see if I had completed it or I would have missed out on the next image. Every Friday,for those who participate in the weekly challenge, we receive a free image from Faith at Designed 2 Delight. And I'm telling you, I don't want to miss out on that as her images are fantastic. I always look forward to seeing what's next. Thanks Faith!

I had a lot of fun deciding on how I was going to play with this weeks image, a teddy bear with a present. I ended up using not only that image but two other of Faiths, the Dino balloons and the Dino present. See what I did....

Anything BUT a card

That is the challenge at Dude times currently (hurry, just a couple more days left). WELL I struggled with this challenge...what to make, how to make it? I had ideas running thru my head but no direction. So I looked here and got way tooooo many ideas. I had to narrow it down and quickly, times a ticking. Ahhh just what I was looking for! A box! This will hold 4.25x5.5 note cards and envelopes.

Then I had to find a BDD image I could use, Mike to the rescue.

Poor Mike, he's embarrassed

Mike is just a small time mechanic. He can't figure out what is wrong with your car. Uh oh, he's a little pink in the face, being embarrassed. But he's such a friendly guy you can't be too mad at him.
As you can tell by his coveralls, he does work hard. hmmm lady maybe there's really NOTHING wrong with your car! LOL

I had a lot of fun with this challenge, it certainly pushed me out of my comfort zone. Still working on the note cards. Enjoy.

EDIT: The note cards will be two each of Grease Monkey Mike, Rough Night Rodney, Gift Bearer Gary. I thought some lucky lady can use the note cards to thank or say Hi to the men in her life.

Fabulous folds

Two cards, two challenges. Both wanting something other than the traditional side/top (one) fold card. One of the challenges suggested a site that has tons of folds for cards and boxes. I booked marked this site. Always looking for something new and different.

I got the instructions from OWH for this card right here. I still need to work on my scoring and folding before I will be 100% happy. Eh, not bad for a first time! The sentiment on front is from Fiskars clear stamp set, Cameo Ovations.

The challenge is at ABC Christmas, here. Go there, get your free Dustin Pike image, participate in the challenge and have fun. We are supposed to make a card using black and white, but we can add a bit of color to the image. You have to make a Winter or Christmas card, using the freebie or another of Dustin Pike's images. I hope my sentiment will be okay to qualify for a chance to win. I realllllly want more Dustin Pike images! LOL I rather like how mine turned out.

Tellen's Place Polka dot challenge

This is a new blog to me, but it looks like a fun one. I will be following this one. The challenge I'm entering is Polka dots. They gave a free image to use as well. So I found some polka dot paper (I knew I wanted to paper piece it). But boy is it an ugly paper! Why did I buy it?hmmm Anyhow, here is my version of the challenge.

I wanted her hair to be a "bad" hair dye, that you might do at home, so there's some blue in with the gray/black. Oh dare I wanted to "rouge" up her checks also. I'll have to add that now.

Bugaboo challenge

Oh my this was very fun to make and I will definitely be making much more. I got the image from Bugaboo, here. Don't you just love their images? I sure do!! Then I went thru my stash of paper to see how I wanted to color this guy. Here's what I picked out;

Just big enough to use as 4x5.5 on the card front. What great colors to choose from for the image. Perfect!!

Then I had to find the markers. Well my Copic stash is veeeery small, so I used some of this and some of that;

As you can see, just a couple Copics, some Bic, a Sharpie and one Prismacolor marker. They all worked well together. But perhaps Santa, the Easter bunny, my fairy God mother, or someone will bring me more of the Copics this year! LOL

And now for the final product. Ta da;

I wasn't going to add the flowers, but I had a little booboo when I glued the arrow on and had to cover it up. I distressed the H & B by sanding the edges. I don't know why I wanted to add the arrow, just saw it and liked it. It also is destressed and slightly blinged out.

Christmas Winter Combo

Winter fun

A new challenge. There are a few blogs that are having winter/Christmas challenges, here is one. I figured if I did this by the time Christmas 2011 rolls around I will be way ahead of the game. This one will have to be for personal use, not for OWH as I added some glitter for snow affect. I used a D2D image, called Winter Bear, for the card and barely colored with Bic markers. The dp was from a stash I have had for about 6 months now. Glad to finally get to use it.

OWH mid week throw down

White on white with a pop of color. NOT my favorite type of card to make. I love other peeps designs but I just can't make it work for me. Here is what I have so far, like I said, NOT my fav. :) Maybe I will keep working on it and repost another picture, later.

The one on the left is colored with copics and the one on the right with pencils. I do NOT like my coloring with pencils. To me it looks childish. But I am my own worst critic.

EDIT: okay I made another one and I like this one better. See what you think; The image is from here. She has some really sweet vintage looking images.

St. Jude cards

I saw on Collette's blog a post about making cards to send to St. Jude's for Valentine's. Well, I have been busy making cards just for that. Here I thought I was finished with Valentine's already! LOL So far, this week, I have 14 cards completed, inside and out. I'll show you what's done and challenge you to match my numbers. :)
Really I couldn't say NO to the kids.

The cards are supposed to be no gender. But alas some of mine look more boyish than girlish and vice versa.
Lots of different sources for the images, the bears in the back left are E. Dulemba, The cupid and cat in front are from CDAC. The robot, I think, is from freedigitalstamps.blogspot.com, as is the V.

Cards for CDAC

These are cards I made yesterday to enter into the new Challenges at CDAC. All are free images when you join the group and participate in their challenges. They post new challenges every 2 weeks, so really you have tons of time to finish your projects. :) The bling and flowers are the cards are from my shopping extravagance at Michaels. Various markers used to color them and the dp is from my stash, probably The Paper Studio, as I get most from Hobby Lobby and that is the brand I find there mostly.

D2D challenge

Okay, one more post for the day. This is for Faith's regular weekly progressive challenge. If you haven't entered her challenge you MUST check out her blog and sign up. She has awesome images, including this one. I colored the cupcake with Bic markers and paper pieced the cupcake holder. TIP Someone gave me a tip on adding dimension to my paper piecing by adding pop dots under it. I did, but I stretched them out a bit to cover the length of the cupcake holder area. I used a total of 3 dots. The dp is from Hobby Lobby clearance rack. Sorry I forgot the name of it.The dp and the image are adhered to dark brown card stock. The card is a pale pink card stock. Not very sturdy, so I'll add a white inside layer. The flowers were from Michael's (see post a couple days ago about that trip). TIP The flowers were the ones on the stems, I just took them off, added brads and a punch for the center and used pop dots to adhere. Much cheaper to buy flowers that way and adjust them to your card's needs. :)

My printer ink seems to be smearing when I color with any of my markers. If you have a tip on this let me know, please. I have an HP Photosmart printer and use inkjet cartridges.

MelJen's challenge 41

Melissa and the gang at Meljens have a new challenge every Wednesday. This week it is to make a square or round card, NOT a rectangle card. I used my Wild Card Cricut cartridge and cut out a round/lace card. I was going to enter it in another challenge also that called for hot pink/lime green/bright blue colors..but I must use one of their images to qualify for a win. So, another card is to be made. Yay!! But I digress. The little bear image is also a Meljen image. I used my Prismacolor and Bic markers to color it in. I added two little brads for her/his eyes and some rhinestone stickers (Recollections) for the flower center/bling. I think this card would be a good Any Hero card for OWH. Hamburgers

We all like Hamburgers, or most of us do, but are they good for us? hmm, probably not in the traditional "American" way, juicy, fatty and loaded with our favorite toppings. But man are they good, if done right.
I have a yummy card for you today. I got the image from a challenge BDD is holding. GO, NOW, and check out their blog and the challenge. Okay, read the rest of this post then go! I'm also going to enter it in the OWH mid-week throw down. On that challenge you're supposed to use unloved/unused items for your card. My unloved/unused item is the cow stamp. Can you see it? I bought that stamp when I first thought about card making several years ago. I have hardly used it as it seems too small...but hey I think I found a way to use it and maybe even like it. I can see it on a boys card, as accent strip, or with another BDD image I have (a cowboy), see earlier post for that card). Does it still qualify for the unloved/unused part of OWH challenge? Yeah, I think it does!

Blue fingers part 2

Well I'm no longer a "smurfette". After a couple hand washing and a bath I'm back to normal! :)
There was a request to show my stamp catalog book so I took a few pics and will post here. First the book is a small on to fit in my purse. It's only 4x6 inches. I got it a book store on sale. Can't beat that. I have another one slightly larger to keep tabs on my craft spending. NOT sure I really want to do that, might make me think before purchasing again...and that isn't good for an addict! LOL

This is the first page. I just stamped each rubber or clear stamp I have onto the pages. I did try to organize them. Holidays, bugs/animals, sentiments, flowers/trees and Christmas. That is what I have thus for. Though I haven't cataloged the Christmas ones yet. I have a plastic shoe box of those and was bored with the cataloging. Another day. I did add enough pages in book for them.

A shot of the tabs I used to "organize" them in the book. Just good old office supplies.

And this is how I cataloged the markers I have. I listed the name, number is applicable and a tiny mark to show actual color. Some I have two of so I marked a (2) before the name/number of the marker. As you can see I must SHOP for more Copics. I have mostly Bic's as my budget isn't big!

Hope this helps and gives you some idea on what I did.

Blue fingers

I've heard of a "green thumb" but blue fingers? LOL that is me today. I did NOT make a single card, but I did wake up at 3am with a sentiment I'm going to use on a BDD challenge. Stay tune for that.

Back to my blue fingers...you might ask, "how did she get those?". Well, I went shopping with my sister at Michaels (psst, never shop with my sis, she isn't one to say "you don't need that", she says "ya that's cute, get it and this one and that one"...oops I spent too much) and they had stamps for a dollar, well I had to get some (insert A LOT). Then I came home and thought I should catalog my rubber stamps in a book I can carry with me, just in case said sister takes me shopping again! Right? Right! Notice the tabs on the side. "Nerd" alert! :)

Hence the blue fingers as I was cleaning the stamps with baby wipes to keep from getting up and down, up and down, to go to the sink.

Okay, one last post for the day. This card was made with 2 Sister's challenge in mind. "Getting girly" is the challenge. I went thru my digital images and came across this sweet image from Cora, here. It is a vintage image so to me it had to be a CAS card, but girly. Hence the pink on pink on pink...and pearls. A girl has to have some pearls, right? Hope you enjoy her.

Hey all,
I'm entering another challenge. I so love to do this. It gets my mojo going! This one is at DeeDees and the challenge just started. It runs thru Sunday, so lots of time for y'all to join me in this challenge. I used an image from DeeDee and picked out my favorite pink and red papers...I did add some dark green to ground it.
I'll also me added this the the new sketch challenge at OWH. The markers I used are Copic, Bic and Prismacolor. I added a few blings to the corners and called it done. I wanted to add some "snow" but I'm sending it on to the troops at OWH and that would be too dangerous for them.

D2D challenge

The gals at D2D have a weekly progressive challenge. This week our image to use is from the Love Ewe set. If you are not already participating in the weekly challenges you can get this image from Faiths store, here. Though the image is probably more Valentine's I think it could be used anytime you want to send a "love" card. I used Word to print the image and just added the sentiment above the sheep image. The dp is from a stock pile I had. I colored the sheep with Prismacolor, Brick white with a touch of Copic Rose Pink R81(his nose and ears) and the heart is with Bic, Rambunctious Red. How's that for a marker name? :) The grass is with Copic Apple Green, G14 and with Bic Margarita Green. hmmm time for a drink?

Merge two or more imgaes. HUH?
I have always wanted to learn how to merge two images...but never could figure it out. I have two free programs and still can't figure it out. You can't merge in Word...at least I can't the way I want to. But wait, I remembered an old program I used years ago. It is The Print Shop by Broderbund...and by golly that worked. I have two butterflies from the Royal Butterfly image and the sentiment is from Butterfly kisses image..all D2D, of course. Uh oh, I might be a merging fool now! I love this. Thanks D2D for pushing me to learn something new and FUN> :)

It's the first Monday of the year. What did you do today?
I made 4 cards so far. I ran out of adhesive so I had to make a trip to Hobby Lobby, only craft store in town. I promised myself, adhesive only....RIGHT! I did pretty good considering where I was at. Two packages of adhesive, 3 single sheets of cardstock, some Christmas ribbon and stickers at 80% off and the H/L scrapbooking magazine. Not bad, actually very good. NOW had the boyfriend not been home, I'm sure I would have come home with much more. I really shouldn't be allowed to go in that store alone. Oh, I forgot I got a Paper Creaser also.
So I'll share my cards I made today, all images came from CDAC. The have new challenges and free images every two weeks. If you miss the challenge/image you can always visit each individual store and pick up the image there.

Okay, well I don't like the lay out of this post, but it has taken me
three tries to just get these photos added. SO I'm leaving it as is.

Girly Birthday

The cupcake and roses were colored with copics. I added some, okay lots, of Glossy accents to the roses and the candle flame. The roses were calling for glitter, but I'm planning on passing the card on to OWH and it wouldn't be safe to have glitter going there. I added a couple buttons and ta da....done.

I volunteered to do a future sketch at OWH and was given that opportunity. Below is the card I made with the sketch I was given. The image is from here, she has so many cute images. I colored him with Copics and Primsacolor markers. The dp is from an old stash, not sure the company name. I add a bit of ribbon and a button. Hmmm, in retrospect maybe ribbon and bling isn't good for a boy card. I've learned a lot since I made this card. But I still like it, love the colors together. It's a new year

Can you believe it? Me either.
I was going to spend the day making birthday cards, as it's my birthday, for OWH. Well the boyfriend came home last night, a week early. He works away from home a month at a time....so my plans changed and I didn't have as much crafting time as I planned. But I did manage to color quite a few images and get two cards done. The images are from CDAC where I entered them in their challenges. Both images I had a ton of fun playing with. Hope you enjoy them also.

I have had so much fun today with this guy, I had to make two cards of him. The first one, eh, wasn't too thrill with the layout. So, I'm only going to show you the second one. One of the cards I will be sending to my brother, who lives in TX. He used to be a cowboy, not a rodeo cowboy, but a real life cowboy! Ahhh how I glamorized his life as a cowboy...then he told me about getting up in the wee hours to muck the horse stalls and going to bed late after mucking them again. Okay, so not so glamorous, I guess!
The images (Rodeo Randy, the sentiment, and the barbed wire) are all from BDD. She has some AWEsome images. Please visit her store, you're sure to find, oh about a million images you want. :) Thanks Boni.
Randy is colored with my Primsacolor markers, Zig markers and one Copic (his hat). I tried to make his shirt plaid...not so much. Sponged on some yellow around his upper body for the sun and brown chalk on outside of whole image. Don't you just love the saying? I have to keep repeating it in a southern, hick tange....Thanks again Boni! LOL
I'll be entering this in OWH#10 for Holiday Challenges and in the current Dudetime challenge.

Dec 29, OWH challenges

There are two challenges on OWH S&S page today. I'm gonna post both my pictures on one blog. My goal for the new year is to cut down on how many post I do. I think I was a bit excited at being a new blogger, and I might have overdone it a tad!
So the first challenges is a Missing You for Kids, I actually made two cards, but they are in one picture (see I'm cutting it down everywhere!). This is a bit hard for me...my kids are grown, don't have grand-kids around me and I'm way too serious to remember fun/play as kids. But I gave it a shot anyhow.

And the second challenge today is Holiday Challenge #9, anything BUT pink. I can do that...only thing pink is the froggy's tongue and cheeks, oops sorry about that. I love how his googly eyes just pop, like he can't wait to get to that fly!
